Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how JJL Publishing House LLC (“JJL,” “we,” or “us”) handles personal information on jjlpublishing.com (the “corporate website”) and in the manuscript submission process. Purchases made at the JJL bookstore (shop.jjlpublishing.com) may be covered by separate privacy and payment notices.
Information We May Receive
JJL may receive the following when you contact us, submit a manuscript, or become an Author Services client:
- your name and pen name
- your email address and phone number
- your manuscript title, genre or category, and approximate word count
- your synopsis or query
- your manuscript file (PDF or DOCX)
- the content of your messages
- the services you add to an Author Services plan, your goals, timing, publication status, and other answers you give on the Author Services inquiry form
- other information you voluntarily provide as an author or client
When analytics is permitted (see below), we may also receive ordinary technical and site-usage information, such as pages viewed, approximate location, browser and device type, and interactions with site resources. Like most websites, our hosting provider may also keep ordinary technical server logs.
How Information Is Used
We use information to respond to inquiries, evaluate manuscript submissions, communicate with authors, prepare proposals, deliver contracted services, manage projects, keep business records, protect JJL’s rights, and comply with legal obligations.
Manuscript Submissions
The designated manuscript submission form on the For Authors page uses FormSubmit (formsubmit.co), a third-party form-processing provider. A submission may include the form fields and your uploaded PDF or DOCX file. FormSubmit transmits the submission to JJL by email at info@jjlpublishing.com. FormSubmit operates under its own terms and privacy practices.
JJL may retain manuscripts and related information for evaluation, communication, business records, project management, contracted work, and dispute or legal needs where appropriate.
Please keep your own copy of anything you submit, and do not include unnecessary highly sensitive information. Submitting a manuscript does not create a publishing agreement. This website does not provide a private author portal or secure manuscript storage; submissions travel as email attachments.
Manuscripts should be submitted through JJL’s designated submission process. Files sent through unrelated email addresses, social-media channels, or other unapproved channels may not be reviewed or tracked as manuscript submissions.
Author Services Inquiries
The “Build Your Author Services Plan” tool lets you choose services and tell us about your book. When you submit it, the information goes to JJL’s own website server (not FormSubmit), which emails it to JJL staff, and may send you a short acknowledgment email. We use it to review your project and prepare a custom proposal. We may keep internal notes to scope your project. The tool does not take payments and does not accept manuscript files.
To protect the form from abuse, the server may briefly keep a technical record of submissions from an internet address (stored in a scrambled, non-readable form for up to 24 hours) and a short-lived security token. We do not send your inquiry answers to Google Analytics. Contacting you about your inquiry is separate from marketing: we add you to news or tips only if you tick the separate optional box.
Analytics and Cookies
JJL’s analytics is consent-based. Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics are not intentionally loaded through JJL’s analytics integration until you accept analytics. If you accept, they help us understand general site usage.
JJL does not intentionally send manuscripts, manuscript contents, manuscript filenames, free-text submission fields, phone numbers, or email addresses to Google Analytics.
To remember your choice, the site sets a consent-preference cookie (jjl_corporate_analytics) that records whether you accepted or declined analytics. It lasts up to one year. You can change your choice by clearing the cookie in your browser; the banner will then appear again on the production site.
Service Providers and Contractors
JJL coordinates outside professionals and uses technology providers. We may disclose information reasonably necessary to evaluate a project or deliver contracted services to appropriate service providers, including, where applicable:
- editors
- designers
- production contractors
- technology and hosting providers
- email providers
- form processors
- printers
- publishing and distribution platforms
- marketing and service vendors
- other professional contractors
We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect JJL’s rights.
No Sale of Personal Information
JJL does not sell personal information for money.
Retention
JJL retains personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including manuscript evaluation, correspondence, project administration, business records, contractual matters, dispute resolution, legal compliance and protection of JJL’s rights.
Your Requests
You may ask to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you by contacting us below. We may retain records where legally or reasonably necessary, and some information may also remain with the third-party providers described above.
Security
JJL uses reasonable measures to protect the information it receives. No method of electronic transmission or storage, including email, can be guaranteed completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children’s Privacy
The corporate website is a general-audience site. It is not designed to knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Manuscript submission is intended for adults, or for minors with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian. If you believe a child has submitted information to JJL, please contact us about that record.
